Through my time in the ER and on the battlefield, I’ve become one of America’s most experienced doctors on mass casualty, disaster care, and PTSD. Selected as one of the Leading Physicians of the World by the International Association of Healthcare Professionals, I am a practicing emergency physician and health correspondent for local and national media outlets.
Veteran
After receiving my MD, I enlisted in the US Army during the Iraq War, receiving the Bronze Star for serving one of the longest combat tours by a physician since World War II. I was also honored to be recognized as a CNN Hero for serving as the US physician who treated Saddam Hussein after his capture from the spider hole by US forces.
A humbling and transformational experience, my service in the Army has inspired a lifelong passion for veteran advocacy. In 2014 I founded The Battle Continues, a 501c3 non-profit focused on helping veterans fight their health battles beyond combat.
Entrepreneur
My entrepreneurial efforts are focused on expanding access to quality healthcare and medical training. I’m the founder & CEO of several nationally top-ranked medical and education technology companies, and am honored to lend my expertise to some of today’s leading initiatives for expanding and improving healthcare.
Educator:
I’m passionate about training the next generation of physicians and educating leaders in public health and safety on the latest protocols in disaster and emergency care. I split my time between Texas and Chicago, teaching as a Clinical Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and the University of Illinois College of Medicine.
Through my textbook High Yield Emergency Medicine and my preparatory courses, I’ve trained thousands of physicians on the standard of care and guided residency programs to score #1 in the nation on in-training exams.
