Known for her reliable, practical and straightforward advice, Joy also hosts the program’s popular bi-weekly series called the Joy Fit Club, which celebrates determined people who have lost and kept off 100 pounds or more through diet and exercise alone. Her other ongoing series include Joy’s Diet SOS, Joy’s Kitchen Rescue & Joy’s Healthy Food Finds.
The author of multiple New York Times bestsellers, Joy’s latest book is Slim & Scrumptious, a cookbook filled with easy-to-make family-friendly recipes that save time and money in the kitchen without compromising on taste or nutrition. Her other bestselling books include Your Inner Skinny and Joy Bauer’s Food Cures, and she recently launched her first exercise DVD, Joy Bauer’s Slimdown.
In addition to authoring many books, Joy is the nutrition expert and contributing editor to PARADE and PARADE HealthyStyle magazines, as well as a contributing editor and monthly columnist to Woman’s Day magazine. As Yahoo’s nutrition expert, Joy provides the latest nutrition, health, food and diet-related information to millions of their online subscribers. She has also been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times, LA Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Wall Street Journal, People, Prevention, Vogue, Town & Country, Allure, Self, Cosmopolitan, US Weekly and Family Circle.
Joy is the exclusive nutritionist for the New York City Ballet—and an associate faculty member at Columbia University. Joy also founded and ran one of the largest, most advanced nutrition centers in the country for close to two decades.
Earlier in her career, Joy served as Director of Nutrition and Fitness for the “Heart-Smart Kids Program” — a program that she developed for the Mount Sinai Medical Center’s Department of Pediatric Cardiology in New York City. She was also a nutrition consultant for the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, where she designed and supervised their ongoing research in eating disorders and weight management. Furthermore, Joy served as the clinical nutritionist with the neurosurgical team at Mount Sinai Medical Center and taught anatomy & physiology and sports nutrition at New York University’s School of Continuing Education. She was also the exclusive nutritionist for New York University’s faculty, students, and athletes.
Passionate about giving people practical, accessible and scientifically sound health information, Joy received the “National Media Excellence Award” from the American Dietetic Association.
