Thomas Landstreet is a Nashville-based professional musician, savvy economist, forecaster, analyst, investment practitioner, and speaker who delivers his material with humor to engage and better equip audiences.  Thomas performs with “The Cameroons” band which is made up of Nashville professional musicians who’ve all played with Grammy-winning acts from Clint Black, Miranda Lambert, Old Crow Medicine Show & Zac Brown. Thomas is a drummer.

He operates in the real world, and makes real predictions for invesetors based on the research he spearheads as the Co-Founder and President of Trusco Investment Management and the Co-founder of N3L Capital Partners, manager of the N3L Fund, a strategic investment limited partnership.

He specializes in “big picture” economic and thematic research.  For him, as a practioner, his forecasts are not academic in nature but have concequences in the real world.  He works to have a “sharp battle axe as a practioner” so he can do a better job helping investors as they navigate the future of the market, economics, government policy, and international geopolitics.   His background and trackrecord also helped him become a top contributor at Forbes.com.

With his rich research background, he finds himself speaking to a lot of global investment audiences and industrial audiences as well with a high percentage of clients asking him to come back year after year.

Although speaking on a meaty subject, he delivers his presentations with both the humor and practical ideas to keep the audience engaged and leave them with “a lasting framework for looking at the world”.   He learned how to engage an audience early on doing stand-up comedy in New York comedy clubs, and brings that skill-set to add some levity to what can be heavy, technical topics.

Formerly, in 2011, Mr. Landstreet Co-Founded Tell-Tale Capital Corp. as well as founded Standard Research Corp., publisher of “Connecting the Dots” economic and investment research.  As head of Standard Research, Mr. Landstreet advises major fund management firms on the investment ramifications of government economic policies.

Mr. Landsteet has been a Senior Vice President at Laffer Associates from 2006 to 2010 working with the renowned Economist Arthur Laffer (of the Laffer Curve).  For years, he worked directly with Arthur Laffer where he produced weekly economic commentary and analysis.

Prior, he was also the Managing Director, Head of Institutional Sales, for Avondale Partners, LLC from 2003 to 2006 where he remarkably remained the #1 producer while in leadership and was named an “All American Broker” twice.  Under his leadership, Avondale Partners was awarded the WSJ’s “Best On the Street” award for the single best stock picking record on Wall Street.   From 1996 through 2003, Mr. Landstreet was the Managing Director of Institutional Sales at the Robinson Humphrey Co., Inc. in Atlanta, GA.

Mr. Landstreet was born in Nashville, TN and studied English literature at Auburn University and advertising copywriting at The Portfolio Center in New York City. He began his career in advertising at Ogilvy & Mather in New York City.

Thomas Landsteet has a unique background to entertain and educate audiences interested in the Nashville music scene and its history (that's like few others) along with finance and world events shaping markets. As a Nashville-based professional musician and economist, this session would include a unique blend of Nashville history and stories, with some music/entertainment weaved in, plus some practical take-away ideas to help advisors navigate the economy and markets more effectively as well. Thomas currently performs with "The Cameroons" band which is made up of Nashville professional musicians who have all played with Grammy-winning acts from Clint Black, Miranda Lambert, Old Crow Medicine Show & Zac Brown. Thomas is a drummer along with playing a unique instrument he invented to incorporate the "spirit of Nashville" into one instrument. He would bring this instrument (a tricked-out washboard and a kick drum, he calls it his "washboard apparatus"). He can tell a story about the instrument, share his background, and do a fun solo with his instrument as well that will have the audience laughing and amazed. [There is only one other instrument in existence like his and it's owned by Chad Smith, the hard rocking drummer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers (they played his 60th birthday party)]. Part of what Thomas shares is the little known history of how the Nashville business community (his father included, an investment banker) scoffed at country music for years until they couldn't ignore its popularity anymore. Fun Music Backstory: Thomas learned percussion by playing pots, pans and salad bowls in his mom's kitchen. She refused to get me a drum set. His older brother, a guitar player, encouraged him to get good on the kitchenware, which he did, to his father's jazz records. He created quite a noise. His brother said, "Tommy, keep playing those pots and pans, you'll get your drum set." His mother eventually capitulated. He got jazz lessons to go with it. He's been playing ever since and has had the benefit of playing with - and for - some important people and musical stars. Thomas loves music and economics. He would deliver a session that's fun, engaging, humorous and educational for audiences. ...less
